Chat drawer

The chat drawer is the chat panel that slides in from the right of any page. It runs the same conversations as the Chat page in a narrower layout, so you can talk to an agent while you look at a dashboard, edit a workflow or review a mission. You can also pop it out into a floating window.

Open and close it

  • Select the chat icon in the top-right header to open or close the drawer. The badge on the icon counts chats that need you or have unread replies; it turns amber when an approval is waiting.
  • Many parts of the app open it for you, for example "build this in chat" buttons, dashboard elements that start a chat, program activities and marketplace installs. When it opens from a specific entity, a focus chip shows what the agent will act on.
  • Select Close (×) in the drawer header to hide it. The conversation keeps running and is still there when you reopen the drawer.

On the Chat page itself the header chat icon doesn't open the drawer; it moves the cursor to the page's message box instead, because the conversation is already on screen.

The drawer shares the right-hand side of the screen with the alerts and events panels: opening one closes the others.

Docked or floating

ModeHow to get itBehaviour
DockedDefaultA drawer on the right. Drag its left edge to make it wider or narrower. More actions → Expand fills the screen below the header; Collapse returns it
FloatingPop out chat in the headerA window over the page. Drag the header to move it and its edges to resize it (minimum 320 × 280 pixels). Dock chat puts it back in the drawer

Switching between docked and floating doesn't interrupt the conversation, even mid-answer.

Under the header, a tool bar summarises what the agent can use, for example "12 functions assigned (2 MCP servers)". If more than two MCP servers are attached it's highlighted with "multiple MCP servers may slow responses".

More actions → History slides a Chat History panel over the drawer, listing your most recent conversations (up to 50) with who each was with, a preview and the time. Type in Search conversations... to filter them by text or agent name, select one to reopen it, or delete one with Delete conversation. For full-text search across all your chats, use Search chats on the Chat page (see Managing conversations).

One conversation, one place

A conversation is live in only one window at a time. If you open the same chat in another tab, the first one shows This chat is open in another window. with Use here to take it back.

What the drawer doesn't have

The Chat page adds a few things the drawer has no room for: the conversation list with grouping and archive, Load earlier for long transcripts, the Run panel, the sub-agent transcript side panel, and the welcome panel for new chats. Use Open full view to get them.
